Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts that fall within the scope of one of RADIANT's four thematic sections: Regional Affairs, Diplomacy, International Trends, and National Trends. Manuscripts must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere, and authors are expected to disclose any prior presentation of the work at conferences or in working paper form.

Manuscript Types

The journal accepts the following categories of submission:

  • Original Research Articles (6,000 to 8,000 words, inclusive of references)
  • Policy Analyses and Commentaries (2,500 to 4,000 words)
  • Book Reviews (1,200 to 1,800 words)
  • Research Notes (3,000 to 4,000 words)

Word counts are provided as general guidance. Submissions substantially outside these ranges should be discussed with the editorial team before submission.

Manuscript Preparation

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • Use 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • Include a title page, submitted separately from the main text, containing the manuscript title, author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and corresponding author's email address.
  • The main text file should not contain author names or identifying information, to support the double-blind peer review process.
  • Include an abstract of no more than 250 words, followed by four to six keywords.
  • Number all pages consecutively.
  • Headings should follow a clear, consistent hierarchy (e.g., Level 1, Level 2 headings), and should not be numbered.

Citation and Referencing Style

RADIANT follows the Chicago Manual of Style, Author-Date system, for in-text citations and reference lists. Authors are asked to apply this format consistently throughout the manuscript. Common examples are provided below.

Book:
Author Surname, First Name. Year. Title of Book. Place of Publication: Publisher.

Journal Article:
Author Surname, First Name. Year. "Title of Article." Title of Journal Volume (Issue): page range.

Chapter in an Edited Volume:
Author Surname, First Name. Year. "Title of Chapter." In Title of Book, edited by Editor Name, page range. Place of Publication: Publisher.

In-text citation:
(Author Surname Year, page number)

Authors using a reference management tool (such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote) are encouraged to select the "Chicago Author-Date" style to ensure consistency.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively, titled clearly, and placed at the end of the manuscript with their approximate intended position indicated in the text. Each table or figure must include a source line, whether original to the author or drawn from another publication. High-resolution image files (300 dpi minimum) should be submitted as separate files where applicable.

Ethical Standards

Authors are expected to adhere to standard academic ethical practices, including proper attribution of sources, avoidance of plagiarism, and disclosure of any conflicts of interest or funding sources related to the research. All submissions may be subject to plagiarism screening before entering peer review.

Submission Process

Manuscripts are submitted through the journal's online submission system. Authors will be required to create an account, complete the submission checklist, and upload the required files (main manuscript, separate title page, and any supplementary materials). Submissions that do not conform to these guidelines may be returned to the author for revision before entering the review process.

Peer Review

All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review, as outlined in the journal's editorial policies. Authors can expect an initial editorial screening within a stated timeframe, followed by external review. The journal is committed to providing timely and constructive feedback to all authors, regardless of the review outcome.

Copyright and Licensing

Upon acceptance, authors retain copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. Published articles are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file does not contain any author names or identifying information to support double-blind peer review.
  • The submission adheres to the formatting and citation requirements outlined in the journal's Author Guidelines.
  • Where applicable, the author(s) have disclosed any conflicts of interest or funding sources relevant to the research.

This section examines political, economic, and security developments across South Asia and neighboring regions, with particular attention to Pakistan's evolving role within it.
